How Can Hiwa Help Me?

A korowai of support.
Working with a therapist can help you understand what has happened and its impact on your life.
Once your claim is approved, your therapist will work with you to create a well-being plan for 1-2 years. From December 2024, The Sensitive Claims Service is no longer just 1:1 counselling or therapy. It is now focused on rehabilitation; counselling is just a part of this.
This now means, you can involve other Hiwa services and professionals in your plan of care over 1-2 years. Ask yourself, how does what happened to me affect my everyday life? Then, with the help of your therapist (Lead Provider), identify specific areas where you need support.
Your unique plan might include various supports that may benefit you, such as dieticians, occupational therapy, social work, nursing, speech-language therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, psychiatry, or other therapies like trauma-sensitive yoga, equine therapy, breathwork, or EMDR.
You may or may not want these additional services as part of your plan, and that’s completely fine, too.
Through our therapeutic services, we strive to empower you on your journey toward healing and well-being.
