Region: Dunedin
Provider Type: Counsellor
Introduction
I believe recovering from the effects of sexual harm requires extending a humane response to life events where the humane was absent or lost.
What this looks like in a recovery journey is specific to each person, and the aspects of life that have been harmed.
A recovery journey can be many different things, it could involve steps to reclaim things lost due the harm, an active refusal to let the harm define them as a person, or a gentle movement towards regaining a sense of safety and trust in one’s own better judgement.
I have a collaborative approach to counselling where we try “team up” to negotiate and navigate the different steps of recovery particular to you.
Qualifications
I have a masters in counselling and I am a full member of New Zealand Association of Counselling/Te Roopu Kaiwhiriwhiri O Aotearoa.
Experience
I have been counselling since 2009. My counselling experience includes working with children, teenagers, adults, parenting, couples, family and group therapy, plus training, supervision and consulting.
Prior to counselling I worked in alternative and outdoor education.
Outside of counselling, I am a semi-retired climber... due to the distracting influence of my current obsession with fly fishing.
