I'm Ingrid Campbell, a New Zealand born va'ine from Cook Island, Swedish and Scottish heritage. I have been in Southland for 15 years, but I'm originally from the Waikato. I love Southland! It is my home, and somewhere, I find great delight in sharing in the vast landscape of natural surroundings.

I am a Grief & Trauma Counsellor, Creative Art Therapist, and Facilitator, with lived experience of mental health and trauma. My journey as a Community Advocate, Poet, Orator, and Storyteller stems from a deep love for people and a commitment to empowering others to heal, grow, and transform their lives.

Through my work, I seek to create safe, creative spaces where individuals can explore their experiences and reclaim their narratives. I believe in the power of creativity as a tool for expression, connection, and healing, and I work hard to foster environments that allow for transformation. I am dedicated to continuous learning and hold both my professional and personal aspirations close to my heart.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me immersed in creative activities—whether it's singing, writing, spending time in nature or delving into cultural exploration as part of my own journey towards identity and belonging reclamation. I’m passionate about my own healing process and deeply committed to sharing knowledge that can help others on their paths as well.

Experience

  • ACC registered Counsellor for Sensitive Claims Treatment Provider

With 16 years of experience in youth work, I have dedicated my career to supporting the growth, resilience, and empowerment of children and young people. My work as a community advocate has allowed me to engage with diverse communities, ensuring that rangatahi (youth) have access to safe, supportive, and culturally responsive spaces where they can thrive. I am passionate about fostering positive identity formation, emotional wellbeing, and leadership development among young people.

As a qualified counsellor with four years of experience, including two years in private practice, I specialise in grief and trauma counselling, creative arts therapy, and narrative-based approaches. My work integrates cultural identity, storytelling, and expressive arts to support individuals navigating mental health challenges, loss, and personal transformation. I also offer professional supervision, ensuring ethical and reflective practice for other professionals in the field.

My specialty areas include:

  • Grief, trauma, and loss – providing compassionate support for individuals processing complex grief.
  • Creative arts therapy – using creative expression as a tool for healing and self-discovery.
  • Youth mental health and wellbeing – helping young people develop resilience and emotional regulation.
  • Cultural identity and belonging – supporting individuals in reclaiming their personal and cultural narratives.
  • End-of-life and bereavement care – guiding individuals and families through transitions with empathy and understanding.

Committed to ongoing professional development, I actively engage in training, research, and cross-cultural learning to enhance my practice. My work is deeply rooted in Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, ensuring an inclusive and ethical approach to counselling, advocacy, and supervision.
