Introduction

Hi, I'm Kimberley, born and raised in Dunedin.

I enjoy spending time with my family, walking my dogs, and engaging in creative projects

I have been working alongside people in a variety of community-based roles for nearly 10 years, and a significant part of my work has involved supporting people affected by sexual violence. I understand that reaching out for support may feel overwhelming, and that there may be times when you feel like withdrawing from others or are unsure where to begin.

My hope is that, through us working together, i can create a space where you feel safe, supported, cared for, and able to be yourself without fear of judgement. Together, we can continue your healing journey.

Qualifications

I hold a Bachelor of Social Work and have nearly 10 years' experience supporting people in our community. I have used my social work degree as a foundation for my practice and completed further training to provide therapeutic/counselling support.

My professional development has focused on trauma-informed practice and therapeutic approaches that support healing and recovery. My training includes Mindful Somatic Approaches to Trauma, Advanced Somatic Therapy, Interactive Drawing Therapy, and EMDR (currently in training).

Alongside this, I have a strong foundation in social work theories, strengths-based practice, systems theory, and person-centred approaches that empower people to recognise and build on their own strengths

Experience

Over the years, I have supported people experiencing a wide range of challenges, including family violence, sexual violence, care and protection matters, youth justice involvement, and involvement in the court system. I also have experience working alongside people with disabilities and their families.

In addition, I have developed and facilitated a variety of groups and enjoy incorporating arts and creative activities into therapeutic work, recognising that creativity can be a valuable tool for self-expression, connection, and wellbeing.
