Introduction
Kia ora, ko Lauren Read tōku ingoa.
I’m a Senior Mental Health Occupational Therapist who is passionate about supporting people to find balance and connection in their lives.
My approach is trauma-informed, person-centred, and holistic, recognising the importance of hinengaro (mind), tinana (body), wairua (spirit), and whānau (family) in overall wellbeing.
I believe everyone has the capacity to heal and thrive, sometimes we just need the right tools, understanding, and tautoko (support) along the way.
Qualifications
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health and Addictions, and a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
I have completed further training in Sensory Modulation, Trauma-Informed Practice, and Anxiety Management, which I integrate into my everyday mahi (work).
Experience
I have been working in mental health since 2017, across a range of settings including acute inpatient care, community mental health, and Pasifika services.
I currently work in private practice and under ACC contracts, providing support to tāngata whaiora (people seeking wellness) with a wide variety of diagnoses including psychosis, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and complex trauma.
I specialise in sensory modulation and helping people develop practical, meaningful strategies to manage anxiety, enhance wellbeing, and engage more fully in the occupations that bring them purpose and joy.
