Introduction
Ko toku ingoa Rupi. My name is Rupi.
I was born in Sri Lanka, I came to Aotearoa/New Zealand at the age of 5 years with my family and I grew up in Ōtepoti/Dunedin.
I am a registered Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist and I have been working in the mental health field for over 28 years.
Currently, I am in Private Practice here in Ōtepoti/Dunedin and I am both a Provider and an Assessor for ACC’s Sensitive Claims Service.
However, more than that my main joy is in connecting with the people I see, moving at their pace to understand and support them through their own process.
I enjoy the uniqueness of individuals and the diversity this brings, therefore, I use skills I have trained in (Psychodynamic therapy- play/art, family work, EMDR, DBT/CBT techniques) to suit the needs of the people I work with, and bring the best out of their own strengths in a safe and respectful manner.
My passions apart from my role with ACC, include working in the areas of attachment, mother-infant work, trauma, and working with indigenous Tāmariki/children, rangatahi/young people and their whānau.
My practice is informed and led by the preferences and needs of the people who enter the therapeutic space.
